Letter from the President
Jeff Beard, MCA President
Dear Esteemed MCA Members,
I trust this letter finds you well and thriving in your pursuits within the manufacturing cleaning industry. It is with a sense of responsibility that I write to you today to discuss a significant development that has the potential to impact our field profoundly.
Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed legislation that could lead to the ban on the use of Trichloroethylene (TCE) in specific industrial applications. This proposed ban reflects a growing concern regarding the environmental and health risks associated with TCE, which is commonly used as a cleaning agent in various manufacturing processes. The proposed regulation stems from a commitment to environmental stewardship and public health, and it is essential for us, as members of the Manufacturing Cleaning Association, to stay informed about this development.
TCE has been a prevalent solvent used for cleaning and degreasing in several manufacturing sectors, including DoD, aerospace and more. While it has been effective in many applications, the potential health and environmental risks it poses are a cause for concern. The proposed EPA legislation aims to address these concerns and will force a transition to alternative, safer cleaning methods.
This development underscores the importance of the Manufacturing Cleaning Association in navigating change within our industry. As we have seen time and again, the manufacturing landscape is subject to evolving regulations and advancements in technology, and the MCA stands as a vital platform for us to collectively address these changes.
As an association, we are committed to providing our members with the resources and expertise necessary to adapt to evolving industry standards. We will be closely monitoring the progress of the proposed TCE ban and will keep you informed of any updates that might impact your operations.
I encourage all MCA members to stay engaged and informed about this issue. The proposed TCE ban is not only a challenge but also an opportunity for us to collaborate and innovate. It is an opportunity to showcase the strength of our association in addressing industry-wide challenges and charting a path forward that is both sustainable and successful.
In the coming months, we will be organizing events to discuss the implications of the TCE ban and alternative cleaning methods. Your participation and contributions to these discussions are not only welcome but crucial.
Thank you for your dedication to the MCA and for your commitment to advancing our industry. We will continue to work together, adapting to the changing landscape of manufacturing, and ensuring that our processes remain at the forefront of innovation and sustainability.
Stay well, stay informed, and let us rise to this challenge together.
